Obviously, I watch a lot of football. I have heard many coaches give credit to Jesus after a football game that they have won. Some even give credit before the game is played. Here are a few coaches I have heard give credit to Jesus recently.
Deion Sanders - Sanders is the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. The Buffaloes were one of the worst football programs in America before he got there. After two years, Sanders has a winning record that most thought was unthinkable. Sanders has a flamboyant personality. Whether you like his personality or not, he consistently gives credit to Jesus.
Sherrone Moore - Moore is the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. Moore took over for former head coach Jim Harbaugh just after Harbaugh had helped Michigan win a national title. Moore was the offensive coordinator under Harbaugh. Moore will often thank the Lord after football games.
Spencer Danielson - A few head coaches give credit to Jesus during almost every interview. If you ask me who the king is of taking advantage of every opportunity to thank Jesus for a win, I'd say that is currently Danielson who is the head coach of the Boise State Broncos. The Broncos made the NCAA football playoffs this year. See if you can find any interview that lasts more than 30 seconds where he doesn't give credit to Jesus. I'll bet you can't find one. You might not be able to find one that is over 15 seconds.
How do you feel when football coaches mention Jesus or God in interviews? Are you really happy about it, or does it make you feel uncomfortable and wishing the coach hadn't said anything about Jesus or God? I think Christians should be happy when coaches give credit to Jesus. Why should sports be separated from any other endeavor? If you feel uncomfortable, maybe you should ask for a closer walk with the Lord. Now, I'm not saying God always gives victories to those who give Him credit. I know some people don't like the idea of God favoring one team over another. That's a topic for another time. However, I see nothing wrong and everything right with praising God in all circumstances. Just listen to Spencer Danielson!
May God always be your number 1 draft pick!
