Top 10 QBs & Top 12 People in the Bible

Everyone seems to like a top 10 list. How about two of them?! Here is my list of top 10 quarterbacks and top 10 (make it 12) people in the Bible. The quarterback list is based on expectations for this year, not fantasy value.

Quarterbacks

Honorable mention... Jayden Daniels, Jared Goff, Caleb Williams, Brock Purdy, Jalen Hurts.

10) Drake Maye - Maye is young and ascending but still has a lot to learn.

9) Sam Darnold - Darnold wouldn't have sniffed this list two years ago and would have been in the bottom five! However, the last two years, he has scored points in bunches. He still needs to cut down on his turnovers.

8) Jordan Love - When he's hot, he's hot. When he's not, he's not. He seems to start out the years slowly and finish them very strongly.

7) Dak Prescott - Why would we expect much different from last year? Dak was mostly on fire last year even though his defense resembled a sieve. He still has CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and a respectable offensive line.

6) Justin Herbert - People keep ranking Herbert highly. He seems to play well, but he hasn't done much damage in the playoffs. One of these years, he is going to play as well in the playoffs as he does in most of the regular season. I'll give him another year or two before kicking him out of this list.

5) Lamar Jackson - After ranking Jackson among the top 5 quarterbacks in the league for many years, people are suddenly sour on him. I'm not. Not yet anyway! If he stays healthy, I expect the Ravens to do very well again this year.

4) Matthew Stafford - Stafford just keeps getting better with age. Of course, having offensive genius Sean McVay as your head coach doesn't hurt. Stafford has Puka Nacua and Davante Adams once again.

3) Joe Burrow - I know he has a lot of injuries and has missed a lot of games. I expect him to stay reasonably healthy this year. If he does, he can read the field and throw accurately with the best of them. Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins return for him.

2) Patrick Mahomes - Mahomes has been the best quarterback in the NFL for years if you ask me. He's still a stone cold killer on the field. However, he is coming off of a severe injury for the first time and his receiving corps is good but not great, so he moves to number 2 for now.

1) Josh Allen - Allen has a fantastic offensive line, a great running back in James Cook, and the BIlls have upgraded their receiving corps with DJ Moore and Mecole Hardman. He is nearly impossible to stop in 3rd and short or 4th and short due to his ability to run or pass. It's hard to blame Allen for his postseason failures because he has mostly been very good. The problem has been the opposing quarterback has been unstoppable against him, especially Patrick Mahomes. Still, Allen takes the cake this year at the top of the list going into the season.

Honorable mention... John the Baptist, Isaiah, Job, Solomon.

12) Tie - Matthew, Mark, Luke, John - These men told the story of some of the most important things Jesus did. Without their account, only a fraction of people who do believe would believe.

11) Daniel - He would not worship other gods. He trusted God to save him, like with the lions' den, and would not compromise his faith whether God chose to save him from circumstances or not.

10) Jonah - Yeah, he tried to run away from God, but being swallowed by a whale has to count for something!

9) Joseph - He showed mercy beyond belief to his brothers who sold him into slavery. He rose to prominence in Egypt and followed God no matter what.

8) David - No, he wasn't perfect. He kind of messed up with Bathsheba, but God said he was a man after God's own heart. This is stated twice in the Bible, once in 1 Samuel 13 and once in Act 13. He loved God and sought to do His will. He whipped a pretty big giant with a slingshot, too!

7) Noah - He served God and trusted Him. He built an ark with people around him thinking he was an idiot. Besides, he is the father of... everybody!

6) Paul - Some of what he says sounds like he is on a bit of an ego trip by telling people how much he suffered, yet he brought the gospel of Jesus to the Gentiles. Would I be saved if not for Paul?

5) Moses - He led the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt and went with them on their way to the Promised Land. He was God's messenger, and God used him to proclaim and perform miracles.

4) Abraham - He showed unbelievable faith. He was so faithful that God promised him that he would be a "Father of Many Nations" regarding God's covenant and the multiple physical nations that stemmed from his bloodline. Abraham is the father of many nations because all nations have access to Jesus and can be heirs to Abraham's blessing.

3) Elisha - He performed at least an astounding 16 miracles! I'll list a few. He parted the Jordan River, multiplied a widow's oil, prophesied a son for a barren woman, then when the son died, Elisha brought him back to life! He cured Naaman of leprosy, caused an ax-head to float on water, and after he died, when another dead man was thrown into his tomb, the man came back to life when he touched Elisha's bones!

2) Elijah - Can a man be greater than his teacher? Some might say Elisha was greater than Elijah. After all, Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah's spirit. Well, I'll put Elijah right up there. Here are some of his miracles. He announced a 3.5 year drought then prayed for the end of it knowing that his prayer would be answered. He caused a widow's supply of flour and oil to miraculously not run out. He called down fire from heaven to consume King Ahaziah's soldiers who were trying to capture him. He parted the Jordan River, too. He raised a widow's deceased son back to life. And in possbly my favorite story of the Bible, he kicked 450 profits of Baal's butts on Mount Carmel when he challenged them to see which deity was real, Baal or the Living God! When the profits failed miserably, he called down fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the soil and even licked up the water in the trench around the altar! Then, he killed all of them. Oh yeah... God took him straight to heaven without him dying.

1) Jesus Christ - If I tried to write what all Jesus did, I'd be typing until I had no fingers. Let's just say that He is my personal Savior and the reason I'm going to heaven when I die, and He can be that for you, too.
