What's Wrong With Joe Burrow

Verse for today...

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

The Cincinnati Bengals roared into the Super Bowl and came within a 23-20 score of winning it. Joe Burrow, with his cool and calm demeanor, was the talk of the NFL. The Bengals were predicted by many to win their division again and challenge for the Super Bowl this year, but they are 0-2 with losses to Pittsburgh and Dallas who are both deficient on offense. Joe Burrow has looked worse than average so far. So, what's wrong with Burrow?

Last year, the Bengals didn't have a very good offensive line, and Burrow took more than a few quarterback sacks. The Bengals decided to fix that, so they signed some free agents who were good with other teams and drafted an offensive tackle. Just one problem... This offensive line isn't much better than the last one. Burrow can be as cool and calm as can be, but after you get whacked so many times, you are going to get a little gun shy. The pass rush is often there, but Burrow seems to be sensing a pass rush even when it isn't there, thus hurrying his throws.

The other thing is Burrow had emergency surgery to remove his appendix and missed almost all of training camp. I've had that surgery. I didn't feel like I was 100% back to normal for four to six months. I know advances in medicine have been great since I had that surgery, but it's still no fun. Even if the surgery isn't hampering Burrow, missing training camp has made him somewhat rusty.

I think the Bengals are too good of a team and Burrow too good of a quarterback to stay down, but they need to get their act together quickly or the season could be lost.

May God always be your number 1 draft pick!
