Verse for today...
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Matthew 28:19
I was picking up my car from a car shop in Gaffney. A fellow named Michael works at the shop and was helping me jump start my dead battery. He noticed a shirt I had on that my church had given me a few years ago to wear to help witness to people at a nearby event called Spring Fling. It turns out that he had been to some meetings that our church sponsors to help with addictions. I told him about this website, and we talked about Jesus and what He means to us. Michael plans to get involved and help with a similar program closer to where he lives. I call that Giving Back!
He said that he wanted to give me something. He went into the shop and came back out with a little wooden cross that he gave to me. That's very, very cool. We exchanged phone numbers. The next morning he sent me a text that basically said he was thinking about the conversation with me and said he appreciated my willingness to share the love of Jesus with others. He wished me a blessed day and ended the message with, "I love you my friend."
I can't tell you how encouraging that was to me. Why can't we all strike up a conversation with others? I don't do it nearly enough. I have a friend named Billy who does a good job of it. I think it helps to have a conversation starter, like a shirt or a little cross. Billy ordered a shirt that says, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel." That's a good conversation starter. I think I'll take that cross that Michael gave me and make a bracelet or a necklace out of it. I got the impression that Michael isn't a big football fan. I enjoy football, and football is rather important to me but not nearly as important as the encounter I had with Michael. He told me that he is doing very well now. Heavenly Father, thank you for my new friend, Michael. Bless him and protect him. And, Michael, I love you, too, brother!
May God always be your number 1 draft pick!
